Recognition
As much as the clichés are laughed at, there is usually an inkling of truth that they are based on.
The horse's behavior and responses often reflect the human's current mental, emotional, and physical state.
If a person is fixated far into the future on task accomplishment, they are not present to recognize, acknowledge, believe, and address the horse's communication.
This can lead to unintentional miscommunication, misunderstanding, and create defensiveness between the horse and rider.
When equine enthusiasts learn to loosen their grip on their goal, and focus on refining the "segments" needed for them to offer clear, specific Conversations, or interactions with the horse, they can then accomplish the task with more Quality, less chaos, and increases both the equine and person's confidence.
Though many may not realize it at the time, often the emotional fulfillment so many horseback riders are seeking from the start increases as their goal of "togetherness increases and the "have tos" decrease.
