Challenges or Difficulties with your horse? Improve your Horsemanship

Alternative Horsemanship with Samantha Harvey Remote Horse Coach Empowered Equine Partnership journey. Learn to understand horse behavior, improve your horsemanship, communicate with horses, decrease your fear, build your horse's trust, improve your skill-set, and more. Horseback riders frequently find themselves facing a variety of physical and mindest challenges regarding fear, anxiety, or concern towards unwanted scenarios with their horse. Whether you have taken up horseback riding later in life, or are a returning rider, a slew of factors can limit your enjoyment with the horse. Whether you own a horse, are in a lesson program or not, irrelevant of the preferred discipline, whether you are a competitive or pleasure rider, equestrians are often burdened with what I call Mind-Set Mayhem thoughts, or negative triggering thoughts, that affect and limit the quality of interactions with the horse. Some of the emotions they may experience include: Anxiety Anticipation Apprehension Concern Defensiveness Doubt Fear Mistrust Nervousness Panic Self-shaming Worry Unease Common Triggering Thoughts include: I have a fear of falling off my horse. I have a fear of getting hurt when my horse responds unexpectedly. I find myself concerned, even if my horse is not behaving badly. I had one scary incident a while ago with a horse, and I can not let it go. I get exhausted after horseback riding for a short time. I cannot seem to find my balance when I'm in the saddle. Nothing bad has happened with my horse yet I'm finding myself become scared. I get nervous before every single ride. Here are a few of what I call Mind-Set Mayhem thoughts: The rider's mental fixation on past unwanted scenarios The rider's attempt to contain the horse The rider's lack of balance creating ineffective aids when communicating to the horse The rider's attempt to rush through scenarios with the horse The rider going "passive" in their communication hoping the horse will handle a scenario Bullying oneself into "powering through" the ride The anticipation of future unknowns with the horse Self-critique and self-shaming towards fear Your mind influences your emotional perception and physical experience in the time spent with your horse. Learning to recognize unwanted patterns in your thoughts, what your mental triggers are and the undesired emotions that follow, why you are fixating on potential negative outcomes, and how to replace your Mind-Set Mayhem with Mindful Pro-Active Behavior. Though the physical aspects of your time in the saddle may appear to be your main "issue," I believe it is the mental and emotional state experienced prior to mounting up that affects the quality of your ride and can quickly build or diminishes your stress levels and confidence. By learning how to change your mind-set, diffuse your emotions, and let go of physical tension, you will learn how to create long-term changes in your mental, emotional, and physical experience when with the horse. The reality is having a support system increases the likelihood of making positive and lasting changes. Having guidance to help you raise your awareness, acknowledge your negative thought contributors, learn positive alternatives, clarify your intentions, and practice pro-active partnerships, decreases and eventually eliminates the overwhelming and debilitating experience our thoughts can create.
